When could it open?

What Google says

No date

Google says it is still gathering feedback and working on guardrails, and will open Carbon to developers, businesses and consumers “as soon as possible”. Google: Gemini 4 Carbon announcement

What Argon did

13 days

Argon went from trusted defenders on September 30 to general availability on October 13. The same gap from October 28 lands on November 10. This is an analogy. Google has not promised it. Google: Gemini 4 Argon first rollout, Google: Gemini 4 Argon general availability

Why other pages disagree

“Released on October 28”
Some model databases log the announcement day as the release date. That week only started limited access.
“Available through the API”
Google's own API pages had no Carbon entry at our last check. Ask any seller how they reach the model.
“The promo price ends November 30”
November 30 is the deadline for Gemini 4 Argon. Google has not given one for Carbon.
“It's a cybersecurity-only model”
Cyber defenders come first, but Google says it plans to open Carbon to developers, businesses and consumers.

How this answer was checked

Common questions

Is Gemini 4 Carbon released?

Not to the public. Google announced it on October 28, 2026. Outside Google and its testing partners, only a subset of cyber defenders has access so far.

When will Gemini 4 Carbon be publicly available?

Google has not given a date and says only that it will come as soon as possible. Argon took 13 days to go from limited access to general availability, and the same gap would land on November 10, but that is an analogy, not a schedule.

Can I use Gemini 4 Carbon in the Gemini app or API?

Not yet, as far as Google's public pages show. The API pricing, models and release notes pages have no Carbon entry, and the subscriptions page names Argon only.

How much will Gemini 4 Carbon cost?

Google has announced an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, then $4 and $20 afterwards. It has not said when the introductory period ends, and there is no public API to buy from yet.

What is the Fairwind Program, and does joining get me Carbon?

Fairwind is Google's early-access program for high-priority cyber defenders such as governments, healthcare providers and telecoms. Google runs background checks on applicants. Its page currently names Argon, not Carbon, so joining does not guarantee Carbon access.

Why do some sites say Gemini 4 Carbon is out?

They usually treat the announcement or limited access as the release. Limited access began the week of October 28, but developers, businesses and consumers still cannot use it.
